Niels Jensen was born in Philadelphia, grew up in Utah, and is
currently an Associate Clinical Professor in Anesthesiology at
the University of Iowa.
Dr. Jensen played catcher on his high school baseball team and
was student body president.
He attended Harvard University and graduated with Honors and
then attended the University of Utah School of Medicine. He did
his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Utah and
University of Iowa. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular
anesthesia at the University of Iowa and a research fellowship at
the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Jensen comes from a medical family. His father (Dr. Jay
Monroe Jensen) was a general surgeon in Salt Lake City for over
thirty years. He passed away in 1995 at age 71. He has six
siblings -- four physicians, one registered nurse, and an attorney:
Jay Arthur (Plastic Surgery, Los Angeles); James Christian (Urology,
Salt Lake City); Peter Erik (Cardiovascular Surgery, Chicago);
Nicoline Violet (Internal Medicine, Creighton University Omaha); Judith Anne
(Registered nurse, Loma Linda); Mary Karen (Attorney, Salt Lake City).
Dr. Jensen married his high school sweetheart. They have three
girls, Lauren, Hannah, and Adrienne.
